No other state in the nation needs ethics reform more than Illinois. The first step in these reforms must be enacting term limits for state elected officials. As a Councilman in Naperville, Grant voted to enact term limits thus maintaining that government is in the hands of the people and not in the hands of the career politicians who have accumulated power over their decades of service.
Adoption of a non-partisan method of drawing legislative district boundaries would also insure that voters choose their representation and not the politician choosing their voters. Illinois has a long history of gerrymandering the drawing of districts to favor one political party over the voters and that must end. This is not about protecting one political party; it’s about all citizens having an equal voice in the process.
